  1. Alessio Petrone says:

Hello everyone, my name is Alessio Petrone. I am 26 years old. I met Dr. Christian Capuano on 04/18/18.
I went to see him because for months I have been tormented by excruciating pain in my right leg and in the lumbar area of my back. My severe pain was resistant to any medical therapy that was recommended to me by other “specialists” in the field, who did nothing but worsen my situation. Some of them even proposed I take medicine for the rest of my life to control the pain I had, and I repeat, I am only 26 years old!!
After having a lumbosacral MRI and having it examined by Christian (because he asked me to call him by his name, being totally unpretentious) the bad news was discovered: severe disk pathology at levels L4-L5-S1 with radicular compression and stenosis of the intervertebral spaces.
As the doctor always says: before any treatment, it is essential to make a diagnosis because pain is only a symptom.
This is how we started out, together, with a programme of therapy in preparation for my surgery. To reduce the pain I underwent various sessions of oxygen-ozone intramuscular therapy, which helped me return to a normal life and finally have peaceful painless nights. After having reduced most of the pain, I underwent various physiotherapy sessions with the ‘Mythical Andrea’, who, besides treating me, was a patient listener. He listened to me talk a lot about my hypochondria (admittedly paranoiac); for this I thank him very much.
After this period of preparation, I underwent L4-L5-S1 lumbosacral arthrodesis with insertion of a cage L4-L5, at the Paradise Clinic in Ivrea on 27-5-2019. The surgery was performed by Dr. Capuano and his very competent associate Dr. Carnini, to whom I also extend my most sincere and heartfelt thanks.
My post-operative experience was fantastic, the day after my surgery I was already standing and wandering around the corridors of the clinic, and was promptly assisted if I needed it; on the third day, I was released and returned home. Now, rehabilitation and physiotherapy are ahead of me.
What can I say? Meeting Dr. Capuano was my salvation! I am happy to have met him while on this difficult journey, otherwise I can’t imagine the condition I would be in.
Last but not least, I want to thank Marinella, the office secretary, who was always available, kind and cordial to all of us patients (who sometimes vent to her about our fears). She was always patient and comforting, despite the number of patients she sees in the office every day.
I could say so much more. An entire book couldn’t contain all my gratitude.
    Thanks Dr. Capuano
    Thanks Dr. Carnini
    Thanks Andrea
    Thanks Marinella
    With immense esteem and gratitude,
    Alessio

  2. Elisabetta Colombo Gusmano says:

Hi, I am Elisabetta and I am 47 years old. I met Dr. Christian Capuano through a friend. My first impression of him was that he was a confident and direct person, who upon first meeting you, understands everything about you. Leading up the day of your surgery, he uses all his knowledge and professionalism in caring for you. This pre-surgical period was helpful in relieving my pain for 6 months. I had microsurgery on May 20: he performed osteo-ligamentous decompression and lumbar arthrodesis with vertebal fusion. In addition to being a great surgeon, he is a man with a humanity and sensitivity that touches your heart. He makes you feel well cared for and works with experience, passion and LOVE. I remember his caress before my anaesthesia and the strength of his words when he gave me his arm to help me to stand up. I felt like a child, taking her first steps, and immediately felt that my back was straighter and I felt better. I believe that sometimes in life special people are born, people who leave traces of themselves in others, because they give part of themselves to people who are suffering. They perform miracles. On July 21 I am getting married and Dr. Capuano has given me the greatest gift of all, the joy of good health. Finally, he’s not just my doctor, I feel a lifelong bond with him now. A special thanks to his associates: Dr. Francesco Carnini; Marinella, a no-nonsense, professional, but always with a smile for everyone; Andrea is a physiotherapist with infinite patience. This office is not just a doctor’s office; it is a special family. With much affection, infinite gratitude and a big hug from Elisabetta e Luca THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

  3. Mauro Introzzi says:

Hello, my name is Mauro and I am 45 years old. I was operated on 17/05/2019, at the Eporediese Clinic in Ivrea, by Dr. Capuano and Dr. Carnini, as a team.
The surgery consisted of L5-S1 decompression and stabilisation with titanium screws and bars, after completing a programme of ozone therapy and physiotherapy.
I was looking for a solution to my problem but I found much more. Just read the comments, they are all positive. These are special people you can trust. They have been serious and professional, but at the same time showed courtesy and sensitivity towards their patients, rare qualities… So, firstly I want to thank Doctors Christian and Francesco, then Marinella and Andrea for their professionalism and courtesy, and finally, all the people of the Eporediese clinic.

  4. Ivan Visentin says:

Good evening my name is Ivan and I am 52 years old. For 2 years, I have been suffering from crippling pains in the L3 L4 L5 area due to an extraforaminal herniated disk. After meeting Dr. Capuano through a colleague of mine in April 2018, I started having ozone therapy sessions. The treatments gave me some immediate relief, but the Doctor had been clear from the first appointment that my problem was mechanical and I would also have to undergo a stabilisation operation of the spine. At the end of March 2019, in the Eporediese Clinic of Ivrea, my surgery was performed by Dr. Capuano and Dr. Carnini. The next day I was able to stand up my pain was already just a memory.
Now, after 40 days and some sessions with Andrea, the physiotherapist, I have returned to work and it is going very well. I want to thank everyone; Doctor Capuano and Dr. Carnini; the very kind Marinella (for her pre-operative advice); and all of the staff at the Eporediese Clinic.

  5. Savino Concettina says:

A special thank-you to Dr. Capuano. He has brought me back to life!!!!

  6. Sonvico Graziano says:

Hello, my name is Graziano – 63 years old – and I turned to Dr. Christian Capuano because of persistent pain in my back, which took away my desire to move and leave the house.
After several medical exams and trying different therapies, on the advice of a friend, I turned to Dr. Capuano hoping for a solution to my physical problems that would allow me to resume my usual physical activities.
From the very first visit I found him to be very professional, which I had expected due to excellent references, but also with a great humanity and willingness to listen to my problems. He also had a firm will to help me resolve my problems, from their origin, not only by treating the pain, but by searching for the causes, so that with the appropriate care and awareness of how to improve my attitude, posture and lifestyle, I could recover my health.
The results, as predicted by Dr. Capuano, have been quite positive. I must say that I have recovered very well now and have started doing things that I had given up, such as long walks, trips and various kinds of physical efforts that I was worried about doing before or avoided completely.
I am grateful to Dr. Capuano for the professionalism, the meticulousness and the humanity with which he fulfills his work and I highly recommend him to all those who have similar problems to mine.
Personally doctor, if you are reading this, I want to thank you again, and confirm that everything is proceeding as you said it would. Thanks for your encouragement and advice, as well as your therapies, which have been so helpful, because I am finally starting to feel like myself again.

  7. Marcello says:

My name is Marcello, and I am 55 years old. After 15 days of suffering from painful sciatica and after having tried everything from the ‘classic’ painkillers, anti-inflammatories and cortisone drugs – with no relief – I decided to listen to a friend’s advice and make an appointment with Dr. Capuano.
After examining my magnetic resonance results, which showed an expelled hernia L5 S1, Dr. Capuano explained my pathology to me in detail and proposed a therapeutic course of oxygen-ozone therapy. He also explained that only in the absence of satisfactory results, a small operation to decompress the affected area might be necessary.
After the fourth oxygen-ozone session I began to feel better, have managed to avoid surgery and am starting to rest well at night again.
Now, after nine sessions of injections, I have returned to riding my bicycle – without any pain.
I want to thank Dr. Christian very much. I consider him a professional of the highest level, with a unique gift of humanity. Thanks to Marinella, his secretary, who is always so kind and helpful.

  8. Giuliana Peressi says:

    My name is Giuliana.
I have been suffering from back pain for many years.
For over a year, the pain has caused me a lot of difficulty, even in walking. I turned to various doctors and physiotherapists. I took many pain pills. But there was no relief. My GP, Luca Rossini, recommended Dr. Capuano to me. I was greeted with kindness at my first visit.
My problems, and possible solutions have been clearly explained to me. After a series of ozone injections I was operated on and I am now convalescing. I have less pain and walk much better. I thank Dr. Capuano for his attention before and after my operation.

  9. Piero Molteni says:

Hello, my name is Piero, and I am 68 years old. I am blind and have had serious back problems, which prevented me from taking walks with my four-legged angel – Blue – my guide dog. After walking about 50 metres I had to stop and be assisted by my wife. After taking painkillers and anti-inflammatories and after talking with a doctor who proposed long-term pain therapy, I heard about the therapies Dr. Capuano proposes from a friend of my wife, who then set up an appointment for me; I had a complete visit with the Doctor, started ozone therapy treatments and have partially resumed my normal life. Above all, I can now go out with my angel, taking short strolls with Blue. I am continuing with ozone therapy and heeding the precious advice of Dr. Christian. I want to thank Dr. Capuano for the professionalism, humanity and kindness that I encounter at every visit. And obviously, I send a big thank you to Marinella, who is always smiling, kind and attentive.
    Thanks, Piero

  10. Guglielmo says:

My name is Guglielmo, and I am 70 years old.
About a year and a half ago, I began to feel a tingling in my right foot, both in a standing position and while walking. This developed into severe pain radiating down my leg, sometimes in the ankle, sometimes in the calf and up to the thigh.
Over time, this discomfort and pain became more and more acute and I could only walk for five to ten minutes, before having to sit down and wait for the pain to subside.
I spent a year seeing various specialists, who, based on my diagnosis of having a hernia (based on X-ray and MRI exams) had me try various treatments (magnet-therapy, chiropractic treatments, cortisone injections, analgesic painkillers, physical exercises), without results.
Then, one day, while talking to my GP, Dr. Mara Tempo, to whom I had confessed my dismay at not being able to resolve this situation, she mentioned that she had heard good things about Dr. Christian Capuano, a neurosurgeon.
At this point, although my confidence in doctors was at its lowest level, I immediately made an appointment at his studio in Como.
Dr. Capuano, after careful examination of the exams I had brought, confirmed that the many treatments could not have really helped me because the root cause of my pain was due to stenosis, a compression of the nerve in my right leg. He assured me that with ozone therapy and with physiotherapy I would feel much better, but also advised me that a minor surgery might be necessary to resolve the problem definitively.
I started the therapies had some clear improvement, but, he later convinced me to undergo the minor surgery to solve the problem totally.
Dr. Capuano is an excellent doctor and surgeon, but he also understands the psychological needs of his patients; he helped me to regain confidence in my healing process, explained everything in detail and was reassuring and clear about which problems can be resolved.
Fifteen days ago I had surgery performed by Dr. Capuano and his staff and now all my symptoms are gone – including the pain which was forcing me to live a sedentary life.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Christian Capuano and Dr. Francesco Carnini, in addition to Andrea Bozzetti, the physiotherapist, and Marinella Mancuso, the secretary.
    Capiago Intimiano, 10 April 2019.

  11. Giovanni Pozzi says:

My name is Giovanni Pozzi and I am 69 years old.
For years, I have suffered from cervical osteoarthritis and lumbar vertebrae problems.
About a year ago I contacted Dr. Capuano’s office and had several sessions of ozone therapy. At the same time, I saw the physiotherapist, Andrea, and we set up a series of exercises appropriate for my condition. I carried them out scrupulously and have benefited quite a lot.
However, the vertebrae problem remained. So, at the end of March of this year I had an osteo-ligament decompression procedure with arthrodesis at the Eporediese clinic in Ivrea performed by Dr. Capuano himself.
My stay at the hospital (3 days) was perfect; I was in a small structure, it was perfectly equipped, was very comfortable and had a really good staff.
Now I am convalescing, but I already feel the first benefits of the surgery; I have even started driving again.
Soon I will start my post-operative physiotherapy, but I am certain that everything will go well.
Thanks to all the Dr. Capuano’s staff.

  12. Arabella says:

My name is Arabella and I am 59 years old. For three years I had suffered from pains in my left leg that made me limp and be unable able to sleep at night. After several treatments, specifically cortisone, physiotherapy and more, I felt no improvement. In October 2018, I contacted Dr. Capuano. He immediately diagnosed a severe degenerative discopathy. Based on his recommendation, I started analgesic therapy with ozone and physiotherapy sessions with Andrea. As of today I can say that I feel much better and walk normally. I can also sleep at night. I want to thank Dr. Capuano and all the staff (physiotherapist Andrea and secretary Marinella), for the courtesy and professionality they extended to me. I am very happy to have found out about this office. My only regret is not having found out sooner!! Thanks for everything!!

  13. Sara Maiorano says:

Good evening, I’m Sara Maiorano and I’m 26 years old.
In May of 2018 my back became completely stuck.
After doing all the regular exams, I tried different treatments – chiropractor and physiotherapist with little relief, until they advised me to go to Dr. Capuano.
Frankly, I was very worried about my condition, I couldn’t move at all, besides having atrocious pains.
So, I made an appointment with the doctor. I was immediately struck by his professionalism. With great clarity, simplicity and humility he reassured me by explaining what the problem was and saying he would have me back on my feet very soon.
I immediately started ozone therapy and had some relief, but the problem was mechanical.
At the end of January 2019, I had L5-S1 lumbar arthrodesis surgery in Ivrea.
The operation was a great success!
Today, after two months, I am much better and continue with physiotherapy.
Dr. Capuano and Dr. Carnini accompanied me from the time I entered the hospital until I was discharged.
Both on a human level and professionally, I thank you both for the patience and strength you gave me.
Special thanks also to Andrea, the physical therapist, and to Marinella.
I would recommend this doctor to everyone.
    Thanks again.
    Sara Maiorano.

  14. Luigia Bottini says:

My name is Luigia Bottini. I am 51 years old and have been working for 27 years in a retirement home as an assistant to the elderly, an activity that is generally defined as exhausting – both physically and psychologically. All this combined with the demanding needs of my family. For years, I have relied on physiotherapy and osteopathic treatments, and have taken painkillers, cortisone and anti-inflammatories with little or only temporary relief.
At the beginning of June 2018, I began to feel tingling in my hands and increasingly intense shooting pains in my arms. Although the pain and subsequent pain in the lumbar area continued increasing, I kept on working until the day I was almost unable to move. My doctor recommended an urgent MRI and an appointment with Dr. Christian Capuano, while telling me he was the BEST (as Dr. Capuano had completely solved a complicated problem with a relative). With MRI in hand, on 8 August 2018, I finally met Dr. Capuano, who, after having carefully analysed the MRI, explained the problem to me. He used clear and understandable terms and recommended the best therapeutic path.
The words he spoke that day, with confidence and professionalism, are impossible for me to forget: “Don’t worry, I’ll return you to your old self, you are young and have the right to continue working. And, if I have to intervene surgically, due to mechanical problems limiting the functionality of your arms and causing pain, I will operate on you personally (with my colleague Dr. Carnini”, taking full responsibility.
And so it was. We decided together on an analgesic therapy and 9 sessions of ozone therapy, in addition to re-education therapy with Andrea (his highly trained physiotherapist). However, I still wasn’t completely better because of mechanical problems relating to sharp and damaged osteophytes.
After trying everything to avoid surgery, Dr. Capuano recommended an anterior discectomy and an osteophytectomy surgical procedure with interbody fusion cage insertion. All of these terms had been patiently described to me several times. I was sure I had finally found myself a competent DOCTOR, and a sensitive and available person. He told me I could call him any time, and, in fact, I was forced to call once during his well-deserved summer vacation for consultation about my medicines. That day, he answered promptly and cleared up all my doubts. I include this example to emphasise the attentiveness of his commitment to my care. Dr. Capuano has developed the fundamental ability in relationships with patients of empathy, welcoming them as if they were his family members and transmitting serenity, both with visual contact and clear communication. Therefore, I consider myself very lucky and today, after some time, I am living proof of one of his successes and the proof of what he said about 7 months ago. Moreover, given that I have also met several specialists while accompanying my husband (who has a permanent disability with walking following a serious accident in 1998) during his numerous medical visits, WHO COULD BE A BETTER JUDGE THAN ME?
I have entrusted my health and my future to the GREAT DOCTOR, who I strongly recommend to others who find themselves in situations. I also thank Dr. Carmini, Dr. Capuano’s colleague in the surgery and the staff of the operating room and clinic who monitored my condition constantly and who were very reassuring.
The evening before the surgery Dr. Capuano joined us in the Bra clinic, and, holding my hand affectionately, he explained to me and my husband how the operation would proceed the next morning. At exactly 8 o’clock the next day, ready for surgery, the Doctor approached me to ask me how I felt. I remember that he said to me “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you”. After a short time, I fell asleep. After the surgery Dr. Capuano came to the ward to inform my husband that everything had gone wonderfully, showing him the photographs of before and after the surgery.
When I woke up later in the afternoon, perhaps still a little dazed by the anaesthesia, Dr. Carmini and Dr.Capuano came into the room to make sure I was well, and despite their exhausted but satisfied faces they even managed to make me laugh with their jokes. That same evening I got out of bed without feeling the usual exhausting pains I had resigned myself to having to live with forever, wearing my collar and I started my new life – with the awareness that I have asked too much of my body and I have now decided to take care of myself.
I will never stop thanking this TRUE PROFFESSIONAL, Dr. Capuano. Together with his physiotherapist Andrea, they had to patiently endure all my anxieties, doubts and fears, while showing me the exercises appropriate for my condition. Andrea knew how to listen in order to be reassuring. I repeat, I have met many physiotherapists over 50 years and he is the best. A special hug to Marinella, the super-secretary who works closely with the doctor. She was always so helpful and available. The doctor’s choice of Marinella shows that she is the best of the best. She even called me as soon as I entered the house from the clinic to find out if everything had gone well.
Let us ALWAYS remember that we are owed nothing and that nothing should be taken for granted in life.
I will finish my comment by dedicating a sentence to the GREAT DOCTOR and to his team: “WHEN THE CATERPILLAR THOUGHT THAT IT WAS DYING, IT REACHED OUT TO THE EXPERT HANDS OF DOCTOR CHRISTIAN CAPUANO AND BEGAN TO FLY”. Thanks for giving me the chance to keep doing the things I love most, and for letting me get back to living in a healthy and dignified way.

  15. Simona says:

My name is Simona. I am 35 years old and exactly a month ago I had “surgical treatment for lumbar arthrodesis with interbody cage interposition”, and obviously was operated on by Dr. Capuano and his colleague Dr. Carnini, at the Città di Bra nursing home.
My odyssey with back problems has been long: I don’t even remember when it started… after seeing orthopaedic surgeons, osteopaths, any professional in the field, and having taken all types of medicines/treatments (injections, painkillers, etc.), in September 2015, I was completely blocked and spent a week in bed. A neighbour of mine spoke to me of ozone therapy and of Dr. Capuano, who he had solved a problem with his neck. So, I decided to try that route too: at that point I thought I had already tried them all! In October of 2015, I met Dr. Capuano, who immediately gave me confidence with his professionalism. As soon as had examined me he told me what my problem was, and what astonished me, was his “not necessarily surgical” approach. This approach had never been mentioned by any of the other professionals I had seen and who had always frightened me with talk of surgery without assessing the situation and exploring possible alternatives. Wanting to restore people to the “right quality of life” was what led me to trust Dr. Capuano. Thus, I started my first ozone treatments and after about two months the pain had disappeared. I started physiotherapy and continued for a year, always continuing to have a good “quality of life”. In July 2017, I got married and in anticipation of that event, and especially of the on-the-road honeymoon, “the Doc”, treated me with ozone therapy so I could be at my best. After a little more than a year I started to have some small problems again. These problems were related some basic mechanical problems. After an MRI, a lot of deterioration was noted, and in light of a future pregnancy, surgery was decidedly the best option and I was put on a waiting list. A month after the surgery I can now say that I am well and I have just started physiotherapy with Andrea, but since the day after the surgery I have been standing up with no back pain.
The operation went very well and now it’s up to me to be constant, but I’m really proud and happy to have entrusted myself to “my Doc”, a professional, attentive and helpful person who makes you feel first and foremost like a person and not just a patient. The same goes for Marinella, his super secretary and for Andrea, the physiotherapist I am getting to know. Finally, I would immediately recommend Dr. Capuano to everyone… and thank you for the “quality of life” I now have!
